Parliament Sitting Terminated Due to Disorder in The Hall
Sofia, October 7 (BTA) - Dimiter Glavchev, presiding the National Assembly sitting on Friday, terminated it ahead of schedule due to disorders in the plenary hall. These were provoked by a declaration of BSP-Left Bulgaria.
In the declaration BSP leader Kornelia Ninova asks which foreign countries have imposed Kristalina Georgieva as the Bulgarian candidate for UN Secretary-General and why "other prime ministers, respecting themselves and their peoples" have not resorted to such replacements. Further Ninova alleges that in the past Borissov, Georgieva and GERB's presidential candidate [Tsetska Tsacheva] had been related to the former Bulgarian Communist Party and, therefore, Borissov could not use the affiliation to the communist-era incumbents as a motive behind the withdrawal of his support for Irina Bokova.
The BSP leader said that the Government is preparing lasting settlement of refugees in Bulgaria referring to a Council of Ministers decree. She noted that the BSP respects the European and Euro-Atlantic values but places Bulgaria, the national interest and the protection of the rights of the Bulgarian citizens above the common European policy.
Her statement promoted applause to the Left and protests to the Right. Then GERB MP Georg Georgiev took the floor and accused the BSP of "serving a serial portion of lies". BSP's Zhelyou Boichev and Tasko Ermenkov unfolded a red slogan with an insulting message for the ruling GERB party. GERB accused the BSP of telling lies and turning the parliamentary hall into a circus.
Georgiev fought back saying that the EU-provided 160 million are not extended for accommodation of randomly arriving refugees, as Ninova alleges, but that, instead, 80 per cent will be invested in the border security, its provision with equipment and personnel and only 20 per cent will be used for meeting the commitment for relocation.
The termination of the plenary sitting is the serial political gaffe of GERB, Movement for Rights and Freedoms leader Mustafa Karadayi said at a news briefing later in the day. In his opinion, this was used as a pretext so that cabinet ministers would not answer the questions of the national representatives.

Prior to the termination of the sitting, the MPs adopted texts of the new law on independent audit on second reading. The news texts transpose a directive and a regulation of the EU. They regulate the rights and obligations of certified auditors, the status and functions of the Commission for Public Supervision of Registered Auditors and the Instituted of Chartered Accountants. The new provisions also set forth the requirements for financial audit of financial statements.
Besides, it transpired at a news briefing that MPs of the Reformist Bloc, the Patriotic Front, GERB and Bulgarian Democratic Centre-Popular Union have submitted a proposal to set up an ad-hoc commission to check all data, facts and circumstances having incurred obligations on the Bulgarian side under the Belene N-plant project in the period from 2008 to the end of July 2016. The proposal is backed by 51 MPs.
