Interior Ministry to Recruit Retired Servicemen, Policemen to Reinforce Border Security

Sofia, October 13 (BTA) - On the order of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, the Interior Ministry will employ full time 1,000 retired servicemen and police officers in order to reinforce border controls, the government information service said on Thursday.
This is envisaged in changes to the Interior Ministry Act.

The new recruits will be able to detain trespassers and hand them to the police authorities. They will be unarmed and will be allowed to use physical force and auxiliary means only during resistance or an attempt to flee.
