ABV, Movement 21 Form Election Coalition

Sofia, February 3 (BTA) - Two left-wing parties, ABV and Movement 21, Friday signed a coalition agreement to run together in the March 26 early parliamentary elections.

ABV leader Konstantin Prodanov said the two parties had realized that the left wing was ineffective and should be consolidated on the basis of ideology and priorities. "Our aim is to offer a meaningful centre-left alternative with real, working messages," he said, adding that neither party had made a compromise with its identity.

Movement 21 leader Tatyana Doncheva said there were people in their late 30s in both parties who were less known than the leaders but had a remarkable political potential. Her party's three priorities are education, culture and radical judicial reform, including revisions of the Constitution.

Former President Georgi Purvanov (2002-2012), who was ABV's leader until recently, attended the event. LI/DD
