CITUB President Plamen Dimitrov Reelected to ILO Governing Body

Sofia, June 13 (BTA) - At the 106th Session of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva, the President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB), Plamen Dimitrov, was reelected as member of its Governing Body, CITUB said on Tuesday.

The Governing Body is ILO's most important structure. Ten of the 28 states have standing members because of their major industrial significance, the press release said. These are Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States. The remaining 18 are elected by the Conference on a geographical principle. Representatives of employers and workers are elected personally.

CITUB's President is the most high-ranking Bulgarian in ILO. Before 2014, when he was elected as a member of the Governing Body for the first time, Bulgarian trade unions were never represented in this body, CITUB recalls.
