Sofia, October 3 (BTA) - The new members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) took office on Tuesday.
During the official ceremony, Justice Minister Tsetska Tsacheva said that people expect honesty, justice, and impartiality from the new SJC members. National Assembly Deputy Chair Yavor Notev called on them not to yield to economic and political influence.
According to Tsvetina Pashkounova and Sevdalin Mavrov of the new SJC, if the President returns the election of a Supreme Administrative Court head for further debate, the election procedure should be relaunched, with new nominees being presented. According to another SJC member, Boyan Magdalinchev, it is enough for the SJC to vote again on the previous nominations: Sonya Yankoulova and Georgi Cholakov.
Pashkounova, Mavrov, and Magdalinchev agreed that the SJC should not be divided into groups or lobby groups like it happened with the previous Supreme Judicial Council.
