Sofia, January 8 (BTA) - A businessman was killed in a shooting in Sofia on Monday morning, police sources told BTA. Peter Hritsov was assaulted in his car in the Manastirski Livadi residential district shortly after 10:00 a.m.
Nobody has been arrested for the shooting.
He was hit in the chest and was taken by his driver to the Military Medical Academy where he reportedly died of the wounds a half-hour later.
According to eyewitnesses, Hristov was fired at from a car which was waiting outside his office.
The victim was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Properties Management Group, a holding company which operated in a broad range of sectors, including the food industry, construction, security services, hotel and catering business.
The crime scene is sealed by police.
National Police Director Hristo Terziiski said that the motive of the crime is most likely connected with the victim's business interests - which does not rule out a connection with his private life, he added.
Police are not aware of any threats against Hristov nor whether he had a bodyguard.
