Sofia, May 29 (BTA) - The producer price index in agriculture in the first quarter of 2018 decreased by 7.4 per cent year-on-year, the National Statistical Institute reported Tuesday.
The crop output index decreased by 11.2 per cent, as well the animal output index - by 1.2 per cent. Compared to the previous year, the prices of agricultural output went down by 1.5 per cent, which is attributed to the 3.1 per cent decrease in the crop output price index, and the 1.2 per cent increase in animal output price index.
Increases were registered in the prices of fodder crops - by 7.4 per cent, fresh vegetables - by 11.6 per cent and fresh fruit - by 33.2 per cent. Compared to 2017, the prices of cereals decreased by 1.0 per cent, as well the prices of industrial crops - by 5.6 per cent and those of potatoes - by 19.3 per cent. The prices of live animals went down by 6.4 per cent, while those of animal products increased by 5.9 per cent.
The price index of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture in the first quarter of 2018 was 0.6 per cent higher compared to the first quarter of 2017 and 0.8 per cent higher compared to 2017.
Higher prices were registered in the first quarter of 2018, compared to the corresponding quarter of 2017, for energy and fuels, and plant protection products - by 1.8 per cent, and veterinary medical products - by 0.3 per cent. Lower prices were registered in seeds and planting stock - by 1.1 per cent, fertilizers - by 1.2 per cent and feeding stuffs - by 1.7 per cent.
The price index of energy and fuels went up by 2.4 per cent in the first quarter of 2018, compared to the corresponding quarter of last year. The price index of plant protection products increased by 1.4 per cent. Lower prices were observed for seeds and planting stock - by 0.8 per cent, and feeding stuffs - by 1.0 per cent. LI/MY
