site.btaDeputy Prime Minister Nikolova Meets with Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjarto in Budapest
September 6 (BTA) - Deputy Prime Minister for Economic
and Demographic Policy Mariana Nikolova is on a two-day visit
to Hungary, during which she participated in a high-level
meeting on demographic policy with Hungarian Foreign Minister
Peter Szijjarto, said the Cabinet press service Friday.
"Hungary is an important economic partner of Bulgaria and is
among its the leading foreign investors. There is potential for
trade development as well as for common projects targeting third
markets," said Nikolovaat a joint press conference with
Szijjarto after their meeting in Budapest. She noted that in
2018 bilateral trade increased 5.3 per cent, reaching 1.608
billion euro, said the Cabinet's press service.
The Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister noted that the dialogue
between the two sides is based on constructive interaction. "We
have similar positions on important topics on the EU agenda,
such as cohesion policy and the common agricultural policy," she
pointed out.
Minister Szijjarto said that during their meeting he and
Nikolova agreed on a number of bilateral and European topics and
expressed confidence in the future cooperation between the two
countries. He stressed the importance of protecting the European
Union's external borders and praised Bulgaria's efforts in this
