site.btaIncomes per Household Member Grow by 13.7 Per Cent in Fourth Quarter of 2019

Sofia, February 17 (BTA) - The average quarterly income per
household member in a household of four people (two adults and
two children) in Bulgaria was 1,770 leva in the fourth quarter
of 2019, increasing by 13.7 per cent compared with the fourth
quarter of 2018, the National Statistical Institute reported on
Monday. The average quarterly expenditures were 1,670 leva per
household member, increasing by 10.7 per cent.

Wages accounted for the largest share (56.2 per cent) of
household incomes in the fourth quarter of 2019, followed by
pensions (27.3 per cent) and self-employment earnings (6.4 per
cent). Compared with the fourth quarter of 2018, the share of
wages in household incomes rose by 1.1 percentage points, while
pensions and self-employment earnings fell by 0.4 percentage
points.

Food accounted for the largest share (29.7 per cent) of
household expenditures in the fourth quarter of 2019, followed
by housing (17.2 per cent), taxes and social insurance (12.9 per
 cent), and transport and communications (11.5 per cent).

Compared to the last quarter of 2018, the relative share of
expenditures for food and soft drinks decreased by 0.5
percentage points, spending for housing fell by 0.6 percentage
points while healthcare expenditures increased by 1.7 percentage
 points.

There were no tangible changes in food consumption during the
