Sofia, July 21 (BTA) - On his way to the inaugural sitting of
the new Bulgarian Parliament, President Rumen Radev said that
this country needs a government with a broad parliamentary and
public support. "I am sure that the members of Parliament and
the political parties in the legislature are aware of their
responsibility to form a government. This is the most important
thing right now," he said.

He wished success to the new deputies. "Today is a day of hope,"
 Radev said.

The President said that as soon as the new Parliament begins
work, he will start the procedure of consultations and
presenting an exploratory mandate for formation of a government.

Radev said he is happy with the performance of the caretaker
government that he appointed after the previous Parliament,
elected on April 4, failed to form one. "The caretaker
government started important changes in our society and the
State. My hope is that the government the new Parliament will
appoint, will continue to restore statehood and modernize the
country," he said.

Asked to comment the announcement by the specialized prosecution
office that fugitive gambling mogul Vassil Bojkov has been
charged with a coup conspiracy in connection with the protests
against the government and the Prosecutor General in 2020, Radev
said that he expects the specialized prosecution service "to
start using facts and not fiction". NV/LN/
