site.btaSchool Year to Start Normally, Including in Flood-hit Cities - Education Minister

Varna, on the Black Sea, August 15 (BTA) - The school year will start normally, including in flood-hit areas, Education and Science Minister Roumyana Kolarova said here. Kolarova visited the Asparouhovo neighbourhood which was the worst-hit area in the floods at the end of June. She inspected the repair works in schools.

Kolarova also commented the situation with schools in another flooded town, Mizia, Northern Bulgaria, where the disaster struck at the start of August. She said cleaning works continue in the schools in Mizia, along with assessments of necessary repair works. Kolarova said that the problem with the provision of textbooks there has been solved. The Minister drew the attention to the humanitarian aspect of the disaster, noting that the social service will need to check if the children have normal living conditions in their homes.
