site.btaElection Commission Deletes Registration of Party for Early General Elections

Sofia, August 22 (BTA) - The Central Election Commission (CEC) deleted the registration of the Bulgarian Workers and Peasants Party for participation in the early parliamentary elections. This means that 19 parties and 7 coalitions will run in the elections due on October 5.

In the decision on the matter, published on the Commission's website on Friday, CEC says that there is an inconsistency between the hardcopy (3,414) and the electronic (2,385) versions of the list of the party's supporters. Further, the people are entered in the two versions in different sequence. A check at the Directorate General of Civil Registration and Administrative Services established 480 erroneous personal ID numbers.

The decision is subject to appeal before the Supreme Administrative Court within a three-day term.
