Sofia, August 27 (BTA) - The caretaker government which took office on August 6 to lead the country to early parliamentary elections on October 5 is working in three main areas in which urgent measures are needed: public finances, the banking systemand the energy sector, Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki said on  Wednesday, emerging from the Council of Ministers' weekly meeting.

Bliznashki said it is becoming ever more imperative to update the national budget.

Finance Minister Roumen Porozhanov said that government ministries will shortly complete their reviews of the
liabilities assumed under the current budget schemes. The reviews will yield results by the end of the month, Porozhanov said.

The Finance Minister recalled that the previous government had until June 10 to check the public procurement bids for a 500 million leva government investment package. The government had to cancel those projects for which no public procurement procedure had been started by that date, he said. There will be a decision to this effect, making it possible to save 150 leva from that programme, Porozhanov said.
