Experts to Look into Corpbank's Functioning
Sofia, June 25 (BTA) - By the end of the month, the Prosecution
will order an expert examination into the functioning of the
failed Corporate Commercial Bank (Corpbank), Prosecutor General
Sotir Tsatsarov told journalists on Thursday.
Tsatsarov said that international experts will contribute to the
examination.
It is not a problem that Corpbank's former majority owner
Tsvetan Vassilev is in Serbia and his extradition to Bulgaria
has not been completed, because he can be tried in absentia,
Tsatsarov said. He has no information about any action taken by
the Serbian courts.
Yet again, Tsatsarov expressed his disagreement with the bill to
amend the Judicial System Act. He said such bills should not be
prepared in the dark. "Justice Minister Hristo Ivanov and his
deputies are responsible for that bill, because the amendments
were presented as a product of the ministry's political
leadership," Tsatsarov said.
The Prosecutor General noted that his differences with the
Justice Minister are of tactical nature. "I do not accept an
approach where we start off by making a strategy, then amend the
Constitution, and then amend the Judicial System Act," he said.
