PM Borissov in Dead End over Blocked Borders by  Protesting Greek Farmers

Sofia, February 26 (BTA) - Speaking during Question Time in Parliament on Friday, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said he was "at an absolute dead end" over the blocked border checkpoints to Greece by protesting Greek farmers. Borissov said any advice on how to solve the problem is welcome. Greek farmers have been blocking the checkpoints to Bulgaria on and off for about a month now.

Borissov recalled that he had spoken a couple of times with his Greek counterpart, with the opposition in Greece, with the President of the European Commission and other EU officials, but the only answer he got was "the protesters are beyond our control". Borissov said that "outrage" is the only way to describe what is happening at the blocked border. He said that all manners of exerting influence - diplomacy, requests, have been used.

The PM also noted that the protesting farmers step back to let migrants through and then again block the borders for the Bulgarian vehicles.

Borissov said that the situation in Greece with the migration flow and the strikes is such that "an adequate reaction is absent".

MP Yavor Haitov, who asked the question about the blocked borders, suggested that litigations are launched at all levels and urged the magistrates to support the Bulgarian companies in such actions.
