Landmark underpasses in downtown Sofia have been cleaned from graffiti, Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev reported on his Facebook page on Saturday. Among them are the underpasses connecting the President's administration and the Council of Ministers' building, at Patriarch Evtimiy Boulevard and Vitosha Boulevard, one on the corner of Bulgaria Boulevard and Topli dol Street.

Terziev said that while efforts to clean Sofia see results, vandalism continues, which is why he called on citizens to be responsible toward their environment. Sixty-eight underpasses with a total area of nearly 470,000 sq. m have been cleaned in the districts Sredets, Krasno selo, Oborishte, Serdika, Poduyane, Slatina, Izgrev, Lozenets, Triaditsa, Ilinden, Nadezhda, Mladost and Novi Iskar. By the end of the year, 15 underpasses will be cleaned in Izgrev, Serdika, Lozenets, Mladost, Sredets, Krasno selo, Vazrazhdane, Triaditsa, Vitosha and Oborishte.

In 2024, Sofia Municipality has allocated BGN 800,000 for repairs and maintenance of pedestrian underpasses in Oborishte, Sredets, Izgrev, Slatina, Mladost, Krasno selo, Triaditsa and Kremikovtsi. Work has been carried out on replacement of electrical installations, emergency repairs, renovation of suspended ceilings.
