The first edition of the Black Sea International Literary Festival opened on Thursday at the Centre for Contemporary Art and Library in Burgas. More than 50 writers, translators, publishers and literary agents from the Black Sea countries of Turkiye, Georgia, Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria are expected to participate in the three-day event. 

The programme includes a discussion of the literary situation in different countries, their literary markets and translations, as well as the reception of translations from other languages ​​in national markets. The authors will participate in literary readings and professional meetings dedicated to translations and book publishing. 

One the first day of the festival, authors Nestan Kvinikadze (Georgia), Filip Florian (Romania), Iva Pezuashvili (Georgia), Ahmed Umit (Turkyie), Khrystia Vengryniuk (Ukraine), Fuat Sevimay (Turkyie) and Kerana Angelova (Bulgaria) will participate, while actors Georg Kiryakov and Velina Georgieva (both from Bulgaria) will read poetry by Petya Dubarova and Hristo Fotev, moderated by National Book Centre Director Svetlozar Zhelev. 

The festival will close on June 8 with a literary reading of writers from different countries.
