The new edition of Botyov List, an annual newspaper that has existed for 145 years and continues to be published thanks to the Vratsa Public Initiatives Committee, was presented at a forum in Vratsa on Tuesday.

Curator of the event was journalist Valeria Veleva, who is also one of the authors included in the 2024 edition of the newspaper. She congratulated the chief editor, Krasimir Grigorov, and the publisher, Yulian Kirilov, for having managed to preserve such a publication for so many years in this "time devoid of spirituality".

"I admit, when I read the newspaper, I said to myself - so many great names, national names, professors, writers, people of spirit. I know many of them personally and I bow to them. It is a great achievement that you have found them and made them sympathetic to the idea of publishing this newspaper for so many years," said Veleva.

Grigorov noted that an excerpt of Hristo Botev's article Is Our Disease Curable is placed on the first page of Botyov List. The article was published in the Zname newspaper on March 16, 1875, and discussed xenomania, the editor-in-chief explained, linking the topic that Botev took up 150 years ago with present times.

He added that the authors included in this issue are proven professionals, historians, literary scholars, journalists, writers and poets. Among them are Prof Atanas Semov, Prof Plamen Mitev and Prof Lachezar Georgiev. “There are no random names and there are no random topics. Each topic hides a charge and new theses. Some of the theses are so bold that they amaze," Grigorov said.

The new edition will soon be published for the public and presented on national television.
