An Institute of Innovation Technologies in Plant and Soil Health will be created at Agrarian University Plovdiv (South Central Bulgaria), the caretaker government decided on Friday. The goal is to offer innovation solutions and technologies related to the safety and sustainability of agrifood systems for production and their adaptation to climate change, food security, digital transformation, and the development of circular bioeconomy. 

The Institute's main unit will carry out theoretical, experimental, and applied research within a research platform for systematic innovations and technologies in the field of plant and soil health.

The new institute will combine the work of research groups in four fields: plant and soil health and safety of agricultural produce; food security and sustainable agrifood systems; innovations and digital transformation of the agrifood sector; agrifood systems and circular bioeconomy.
