EANA Holds Spring Conference in Brussels, BTA Participates

The spring conference of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) was held in Brussels Friday with a focus on copyright for news agencies in the age of artificial intelligence. BTA is represented at the forum by its Director General, Kiril Valchev, and the head of the International Relations unit, Zlatna Kostova. 

The forum is hosted by the Belga news agency.

A keynote speaker was European Commission Vice President Vera Jourova. Among the speakers are also Clemens Pig, head of Austria Presse Agentur and EANA President, Belga CEO Patrick Lacroix and Press Association Media Director of Technology Steven Robinson. 

The first panel discussion was on funding for the media, including copyright, and was moderated by Fabrice Fries, member of the EANA Board and President of AFP. Among the participants were Marco Giorello, Head of Unit for Copyright DG CONNECT, Stefano de Alessandri, Member of the EANA Board and ANSA CEO, and Elmir Huremovic, Member of the EANA Board and General Manager of FENA.

Steven Robinson of PA delivered a keynote presentation on The Potential and Pitfalls of Deploying Generative Text Al in a Media Business.

The second panel looked into AI in the newsroom with speakers including PA's Steven Robinson, AGERPRES Director General Claudia Nicolae and Kimmo Laaksonen, CEO of STT. 

EANA is a non-profit organization representing the leading European news agencies. Founded in 1956, it is dedicated to promoting high-quality journalism, sharing best practices, and advocating for the interests of its members.
