The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry on Thursday urged Bulgarian nationals in Iran to leave the country immediately as tensions in the Middle East mount.

Bulgarians in Iran are advised to strictly follow the security instructions of the local authorities, stay informed about the situation and avoid visiting military sites and mass assemblies of people, the Foreign Ministry Situation Centre says on its website.

The Situation Centre recommends to Bulgarian nationals in Iran to promptly contact the Bulgarian Embassy in Tehran to provide details on their whereabouts and the intended duration of their stay, either by calling the Embassy on the phone or e-mailing the Bulgarian Consulate in Tehran at consulate.tehran@mfa.bg.

At present, it is possible to travel from Iran to Bulgaria аcross the land borders with Turkiye and Armenia. The land border with Azerbaijan remains closed, the Foreign Ministry says.
