The Council of Ministers decided to close the Bulgarian Consulate in Montreal. It is headed by an honorary (non-permanent) consular official, Georgi Panicherski, with a consular district covering the territory of the Province of Quebec.

Panicherski will be released at his request.

For more than twenty years, he has worked consistently to advance Bulgaria's bilateral cooperation with Canada at the federal, provincial and local levels.

For his many years of service, Mr. Georgi Panicherski has been awarded the Order of the Madara Horseman, First Class, the Golden Laurel Branch Badge of Honour of the Foreign Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the Ivan Vazov Medal and the Badge of Honour of the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad.
