Izmail State University of Humanities suggests that an Institute of Bulgarian Studies should open, the Rector, Yaroslav Kichuk, said at the 19th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media in Izmail, Ukraine. Its third and last panel is dedicated to "Science and Universities as Appearing in Bulgarian Media".

Prof. Kichuk acknowledged the support for the initiative shown by those present and by Bulgaria.

Izmail State University of Humanities was established 85 years ago and it has taught Bulgarian Philology for over 25 years, the Rector said. In the context of the Russian invasion, this specialty is being put to the test and it takes great efforts to preserve and develop it.

He said the academic community pays great attention to the development of the ethnic Bulgarian community in Ukraine. "An effective strategy for developing and supporting this community needs to be created, including through the media," Prof. Kichuk said.

"Our university is grateful to the Bulgarian government and society for their support for Ukraine in these hard times. We appreciate this support," said Prof. Yaroslav Kichuk. "We are grateful for the support of the Bulgarian media, specifically to the media representatives who are here and attend our events," he said. He mentioned that many nationalities live in the region and one of them is the Bulgarian ethnic community, which numbers more than 150,000 people.

BTA is organizing the 19th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media in Odesa, Bolhrad, and Izmail, Ukraine, from June 18 to June 21, 2024. The event is taking place with the support of Aurubis Bulgaria, A1 Bulgaria, Glavbolgarstroy Holding AD, Euroins Insurance Group, Postbank, SOF Connect, and the 13 Centuries of Bulgaria National Endowment Fund.
