Participants in the 19th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media, organized by BTA, honoured the work of Bulgarian revolutionary and freedom fighter Hristo Botev (1848-1876) here on Tuesday.

BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and Evgeni Vesselinov, Editor-in-Chief of BulgariCA, Bulgarian media based in California, USA, as well as a participant in the first World Meeting of Bulgarian Media, laid a wreath at the bust-monument of Hristo Botev on behalf of the delegation. Afterwards, the participants in this year's meeting visited the Hristo Botev memorial plaque, where the poet and revolutionary's house was located while he lived in Braila from 1869 to 1871.

A monument to the great Bulgarian revolutionary Hristo Botev was unveiled in Braila on June 2, 2002.  The idea was realized under the leadership of the mayors of both Pleven (North Bulgaria) and Braila The pedestal for the monument to Botev in Braila was created by Pleven sculptor Dimitar Tsonkov.

Due to the new urban planning this house does not exist, but for us, as a symbol, it is very important, Bulgaria's Ambassador to Romania Radko Vlaykov said, adding that the revolution [for freeing Bulgaria from Ottoman rule] was prepared here.  

The Bulgarian delegation includes BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, BTA Deputy Director General Evgenia Drumeva, Bulgarian National Radio Director General Milen Mitev, head of the Council for Electronic Media Gabriela Naplatanova, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences President Acad. Julian Revalski, Rector of Sofia University Prof. Georgi Valchev, as well as representatives of Bulgarian media and Bulgarian-language media from different countries around the world.

BTA organizes the 19th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media in Odessa, Bolgrad and Izmail (Ukraine) from June 18 until June 21, 2024 with the assistance of Aurubis Bulgaria, A1 Bulgaria, Glavbolgarstroy Holding, Euroins Insurance Group, SOF Connect - the operator of Sofia Airport, 13 Centuries Bulgaria National Endowment Fund.
