Members of Bulgaria’s diplomatic mission in Japan visited the second edition of the Bulgarian Festival, which is held in the rose garden of the Nakanojo Park, Gunma Prefecture, BTA learned from the diplomatic mission.

On June 2, Ambassador Marieta Arabadjieva, together with the Member of the Upper House of the Japanese Parliament Hirofumi Nakasone and the Mayor of Nakanojo Shigeki Tomaru took part in the solemn ceremony, at which the anthems of Bulgaria and Japan were sung and a Bulgarian oil rose donated by the Embassy was planted. Guests at the event included municipal councillors, representatives of local tourism and spa companies, students and principals from local schools, as well as representatives of the local media.

The diplomatic mission added that the Bulgarian Festival is organized with the active support of the Embassy of Bulgaria in Japan and in 2024 it will take place from May 25 to June 23, with a programme that includes workshops on Bulgarian crafts, Bulgarian folk dance classes and information seminars about Bulgaria.

For almost a month, visitors and guests will have the opportunity to taste dishes from Bulgarian traditional cuisine, and to buy Bulgarian products - herbal honey, jams, wine, Bulgarian cheese, Troyan ceramics and souvenirs.

The Nakanojo Gardens are one of the largest flower gardens in Japan. In the rose garden collection, there is a separate Bulgarian corner where two types of Bulgarian roses are grown.
