A traditional New Year children's celebration was organized at the All-Ukrainian Centre for Bulgarian Culture in Odesa. A varied Christmas-New Year's programme was presented by the students of the Bulgarian Sunday School Vasil Aprilov at the Bulgarian Centre. The students showed a theatrical performance of Surva and caroling following Bulgarian traditions preserved in Bessarabia.
"Every year one of the most eventful months at the All-Ukrainian Centre for Bulgarian Culture is December. And now we do not make an exception, although in the conditions of war it is more complicated to realize this. Since the beginning of the war we have not closed the doors of the centre. We have organized concerts and exhibitions," director Dimitar Terzi told BTA.
For nearly 20 years the Bulgarian Sunday School Vasil Aprilov has been working at the Bulgarian Centre in Odesa, where about 142 children are currently studying. Since 2012, the school has been offering classes for 14 children. The school is funded under the Education Ministry programme Native Language and Culture Abroad.
