Since December 22, 2022, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) has had a press club on board the first Bulgarian naval research ship Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii (RSV 421). 

BTA’s Daily News editor Konstantin Karagyozov was the only Bulgarian journalist and BTA’s first special correspondent to make the journey to Livingston Island in Antarctica and back, including the crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in both directions, together with the Bulgarian polar researchers and the crew of RSV 421.

BTA published his dispatches and interviews with the Bulgarian Antarctic researcher – with text, photos and videos.

It turns out that BTA is the only news agency with an office on board a ship and on Antarctica, and Bulgaria is thus the only country providing information coverage from Antarctica, said BTA Director General Kiril Valchev.
