The National Press Club of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA) in Petrich was officially opened on November 28, 2023, with a blessing for health.

The ribbon was cut by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, Petrich Mayor Dimitar Bruchkov, Municipal Council Chair Svetla Danailova and Metropolitan Seraphim of Nevrokop.

Valchev told the guests that with the opening of the press club, BTA eliminates not just the lack of a correspondent for the agency, but also Bulgaria's lack of permanent news source from a significant place in the country such as Petrich. In his opening remarks, he said there are three groups of arguments in favour of having a BTA national press club in Petrich on a par with the other large towns in Bulgaria: demographic, historic and economic.

Petrich Mayor Bruchkov said that it is a privilege for the town to have a BTA National Press Office.

Metropolitan Seraphim said that the opening of another BTA centre within the district of Blagoevgrad and the eparchy of Nevrokop is a good opportunity for partnership between BTA and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
