Meeting with sympathizers of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) in the town of Silistra, the party's Co-chairman Assen Vassilev said: "The only way to live better is to build a future."
"We believe in investing in people. Before us, Bulgaria did not invest in people but sold cheap labour. In a rich country, people are not cheap but earn high wages," he said. "In recent years we have managed to change this. I have told all the chambers of commerce: 'If you are in Bulgaria for cheap labour, go elsewhere. Make your business plans for a EUR 2,000 average wage and a EUR 1,000 minimum wage.' If we keep up the rate at which wages have been rising in the last three years, in four years this will be achievable," Vassilev said.
Bogomil Petkov, the top candidate in Silistra, said that thanks to reforms carried out by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov's government (2023-2024), Silistra won approval for projects worth nearly BGN 50 million. He recalled that the re-surfacing of major roads in the municipality had begun and the buildings of the Drama Theatre and the Youth Centre would soon start to be renovated.
