On the first day of the NATO Summit in The Hague, Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev participated in a NATO-Ukraine Council working dinner with other foreign ministers.
The meeting was also attended by Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.
The focus of the discussion was the need to ensure Ukraine's security and to maintain long-term NATO support.
Minister Georgiev stressed that guaranteeing Ukraine's security remains a fundamental priority for the Alliance. “Our common goal is a sovereign and independent Ukraine that has the capabilities to deter Russian aggression,” he said.
Considering the ongoing military aggression by the Russian Federation, it was stressed that maintaining military, economic and political assistance to Ukraine will remain critical until a lasting and sustainable peaceful solution to the conflict is found.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha provided an update on developments in the fighting as well as on Kyiv's ongoing efforts to achieve peace.
The meeting also discussed opportunities for continued and deepened support from EU member states and Canada, including by taking greater responsibility in the efforts to rebuild and stabilize Ukraine.
