Bulgarian Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov will take part in the NATO Defence Ministers’ Meeting scheduled for June 5, the Defence Ministry reported. The forum will provide an opportunity to discuss and take decisions on key issues related to strengthening the Alliance’s deterrence and defence posture, as well as preparations for the upcoming NATO Summit in The Hague, Netherlands, on June 24–25.

The agenda of the meeting includes a range of critical topics for NATO, such as increased defence spending, fair burden-sharing, capacity expansion in the defence industry, and the adoption of new capability targets for 2025, the Ministry said.

A working session of the NATO-Ukraine Council at the level of defence ministers will also take place, during which participants will review the current situation on the battlefield and discuss the Alliance’s long-term political and practical support for Ukraine.
