site.btaBulgarian Model of French Language Training Highlighted as Very Good Example during 19th Francophonie Summit in Paris

Vice President Iliana Iotova was among the four speakers who presented the summarized proposals from the discussions on young people in the Francophone space, the President's press secretariat reported Sunday. Iotova represented Bulgaria at the 19th Francophonie Summit, which brought together representatives of nearly 80 countries in Paris.

According to the press release, the Bulgarian model of French language training and labour market success was highlighted during the Summit as a very good example.  Iotova introduced the participating heads of state and government to Bulgarian traditions in French language education at all educational levels and the opportunities for career development thanks to the good link between education and business. She highlighted the active work of the French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in that respect.

The forum "Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in French" focused on young people in Francophone countries and the prospects for their development. Vice President Iotova was one of the four speakers at the Summit who presented the summarized proposals from the roundtables on learning, science and careers in French. Young people from different countries also contributed with their ideas. The general opinion was expressed for a more active participation of young people in the projects offered by the Francophonie. The need for a system of educational exchange within the Francophone area and for a closer link between French studies and business was discussed. Suggestions were made for the creation of special funds to support the training and development of young people from vulnerable groups.

"For me, the role of th Francophonie is not only not diminishing, but is becoming more relevant and important in today's world, full of major transformations that often outpace our readiness to meet them. The format of the Francophonie implies cooperation, frequent meetings, discussions, searching for the right solutions and, most importantly, solidarity and unity for common goals," said Iotova. In her words, the biggest advantage of the Francophonie is that it does not dress in a uniform, does not impose patterns, but respects diversity and cultures. "With their knowledge of French, peoples feel part of this space where they can freely express themselves, raise problems, seek solutions, receive help," the Vice President said.
