Bulgarian para-athlete Ruzhdi Ruzhdi, who claimed his sixth world title in the F55 shot put at the World Para Athletics Championships in Delhi, India, was welcomed with applauses by Labour and Social Policy Minister Borislav Gutsanov, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Dimitar Georgiev and Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning MPs on arrival at Sofia Airport on Tuesday.

"I am very happy to be back on Bulgarian soil. This year has been really very successful for me. I am glad that I achieved such good results and broke the world record. It was my dream to achieve such results," Ruzhdi said.

This victory marks his third consecutive and sixth overall world title across the F55 and F56 classes, which differ in the athletes’ mobility levels. The two-time Paralympic champion from Rio 2016 and Paris 2024 secured first place with a new world record, surpassing his own previous best by 26 centimetres.

Ruzhdi first won world gold in Doha in 2015 and is also a three-time European champion across various classes between 2014 and 2016.
