Olympic rhythmic gymnastics vice-champion Boryana Kaleyn announced Monday that she is ending her sports career. In an Instagram post, she wrote that she was "closing a major page" of her life - "that of an active athlete."
She says that it is "hard to find the words to describe" what "representing Bulgaria at European and World Championships, as well as the Olympics, really means to me". "It is a feeling of pride that will never leave me. The moment has come to close a major page of my life - that of an active athlete," Kaleyn adds.
"I am grateful for everything I had to go through, to the whole team of coaches, to the leadership of the federation, to our referees, to the medical team of the national team, to my club Levski-Triaditsa and most of all to my family! I love you all very much and thank you from the bottom of my heart for believing in me! Gymnastics was and will remain a major part of my life!", Kaleyn concluded.
Earlier on Monday, the Board of the Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation approved the proposed women's national individual team for 2025, which includes ten athletes. Kaleyn is not among them.
