Chair of the National Assembly Raya Nazaryan and caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev congratulated Olympic weightlifting champion and world record holder Karlos Nasar for his Olympic weightlifting gold medal on Friday.

"Your well-deserved victory is the result of hard work and perseverance in the training process, which brought you to the highest place on the podium," Nazaryan said. "Your Olympic title brought great joy to the Bulgarian nation," she said. "The challenges you faced have made you a winner, and I know this first success will not be your last."

"We are proud of Karlos Nasar and his achievement, which will remain in history," Glavchev said, quoted by the Council of Ministers Facebook page. "Fantastic achievement – Bulgaria has a new Olympic champion. Karlos Nasar earned the gold medal in the 89-kilogram weightlifting class," he added.
