Bulgarian Transko Tsankov won the gold in the 200 m freestyle event and the silver in the 25 m ice-butterfly event at the Winter Swimming World Championship 2024 in Tallinn, Estonia. He took the 200 m distance in the ice-cold waters of the Baltic Sea in 2:08.83 minutes and the 25 m distance, in 13:36 minutes.

Over 900 swimmers from 41 countries are competing in the Winter Swimming World Championship 2024, which is on until March 9.

Tsankov holds the world record for non-stop 12-hour swim in open pool and is the only Bulgarian to have cross-swam the Gibraltar Strait.
