Bulgaria at the Olympics:
Josif Miladinov
Ranks 8th in Men's 200m Butterfly Final

Tokyo, July 31 (BTA special correspondent Dimiter Velyov) - Bulgarian swimmer Josif Miladinov ranked 8th in the Men's 100m Butterfly at the Tokyo Olympics.

The 18-year old swimmer finished in 51.49 seconds, becoming the first Bulgarian male swimmer to reach an olympic final.

World champion Caeleb Dressel (USA) won the gold medal and set a new world record with 49.45 seconds.

The silver went to Hungarian Kristof Milak with 49.68 seconds, while Swiss swimmer Noe Ponti won the bronze medal with a time of 50.74 seconds.

Miladinov said he is not content with his performance, which falls short of his personal and national record of 50.93 seconds.
"I am happy about reaching the final, but expected much more. I am aware of what I have achieved. I am happy, but somewhat disappointed for failing to improve my time. This will not be my last competition, so I hope to improve it another time," he said.
