Third Medal for Bulgaria
at Tokyo Olympics
Tokyo, August 4 (BTA) - Wrestler Taybe Yusein won a third medal for Bulgaria at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Wednesday after defeating Russia's Liubov Ovcharova by technical superiority in the bronze medal match in the women's freestyle 62 kg.
Yusein caught Ovcharova's leg 32 seconds into the match and after another 24 seconds she finished the Russian off, scoring 10-0 points in less than a minute.
The Bulgarian reached the bronze medal match after losing 2-3 against Japan's Yukako Kawai. In the eighth-finals and the quarter-finals, the world and two-time European champion beat Lais Nunes of Brazil 4-1 and Bolortuya Khurelkhuu of Mongolia 10-0, respectively.
Yusein's bronze is the third medal for Bulgaria so far at the
Tokyo Olympics. Shooter Antoaneta Kostadinova won the silver at the women's 10 m air pistol, and boxer Stoyka Krasteva has qualified for the final in the women's fly (48-51 kg). RY/VE
