Tokyo, August 8 (BTA special correspondent Dimiter Velyov) - Bulgaria won Olympic gold medal in the rhythmic gymnastics grup all-around in Tokyo on Sunday. THis is the first Olympic title in the history of Bulgarian rhythmic gymnastics and the second medal after the bronze in Rio in 2016.

Simona Dyankova, Stefani Kiryakova, Madlen Radukanova, Laura Traats and Erika Zafirova received a total score of 92,100 after 47.550 in the balls performance and 44.550 in the other one with three hoops and four clubs. Theirs was the highest score for both performances.

After this success the Bulgarian delegation is bringing home six medals: 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze.

Simona Dyankova, the camptain of the Bulgarian national rhythmic gymnastics team, said the team was overflowing with happiness after the title. "Our hard work was rewarded. We worked much in the past five years, went through a lot of things and waited for our miracle to happen. It means a lot to us." She said becoming Olympic champions has been a dream of theirs ever since the team was formed.

Dyankova will carry the Bulgarian flag at the closing ceremony in Tokyo later on Sunday.

Kiryakova said: "I have a feeling somebody will pinch me and I will wake up in bed and will have to go through this day over again, which is very scary. I still can't believe it is true!".

Dyankova said they would be returning to Japan one last time as a team, for the Kitakyusho World Championships two months from now. LN/
