The total export price index in 2024 stands at 95.6%, which marks a 2.6 percentage points increase, year-on-year, the National Statistical Institute said in a press release on Monday. The total import price index in 2024 is 97.2%, increasing by 0.9 percentage points compared to 2023.

According to NSI data, the total export price index in 2023 was 93%, reflecting a sharp decline of 33 percentage points compared to the previous year, while the total import price index stood at 96.3%, down 23 percentage points from the 2022 level.

The purpose of the export and import price indices is to measure changes in trade conditions over different periods relative to a selected base year, NSI recalled. The calculation of the indices is based on the average prices of goods at the 9-digit level in accordance with the national Customs Tariff, which itself is aligned with the EU Combined Nomenclature. The indices are derived from weighted averages of individual product prices, using their relative values as weights.
