The 17th National Business Forum entitled "Food - Taste, Quality or Reality," was held on Tuesday in Sofia.
"In the modern world, the topic of food quality is not just a matter of standards and regulatory documents. It is a matter of public trust, health, sustainability and economic future," said Dr. Svetla Chamova, President of the Union of the Food Industry, which organized the event.
She noted that, in a dynamically changing environment both globally and nationally, the challenges facing the food industry require open dialogue, cooperation and a long-term vision. "In this context, the panels of today's forum are on current topics, and the ideas and solutions from them will be summarized and sent to the administration of the ministries and departments, which must take measures", she pointed out.
Chamova emphasized that participants in Tuesday's event will be able to discuss the role of each link in the food chain and the interaction with the competent authorities, as well as the opportunities for increasing trust in Bulgarian food, encouraging Bulgarian producers and curbing illegal practices in the sector. "This year, we are paying special attention to farm and artisanal foods as a sector that is developing more and more actively and has enormous potential for added value in the economy and cultural identity of the country," she said.
Congratulatory addresses by Agriculture and Food Minister Dr. Georgi Tahov and Economy and Industry Minister Petar Dilov were read out at the beginning of the forum.
