Sveti Vlas New Beach is among the Bulgarian sites that have received the Blue Flag Award in 2025. The award is given by the Denmark-based Foundation for Environmental Education, with over 50 countries participating in the programme. In order to qualify for the Blue Flag, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be met and maintained.
The beach strip has received the award for the seventeenth time, Beach Manager Georgi Chapkanov from the Venid Beach OOD concessionaire told BTA, stressing that the prestigious certification carries a great responsibility, and the recognition comes after a series of quality checks. "This means that we are working in the right direction and the level in our country is very high," he pointed out.
The beach is located on both sides of the Marina Dinevi yacht port and there is enough space along the beach strip to sit without having to pay for an umbrella or sunbed, Chapkanov noted. The big attraction is the yacht port, where luxury yachts and yacht clubs can be seen.
In 2025, a tournament of the Beach Pro Tour will be held here again, attracting world stars of beach volleyball. The tournament is held under the auspices of Volleyball World, the European Volleyball Confederation and the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation. BTA is a media partner of the competition.
BTA is presenting all 30 Bulgarian beaches and harbours awarded the Blue Flag by the international jury of the Programme in Copenhagen. It is the 30th anniversary of the first award for the country - the pilot Blue Flag was raised on Sunny Beach on July 4, 1995.
