The wholesale price of most fruit went down this week, with the exception of the price of oranges, according to the latest data from the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets. The prices of vegetables and basic foodstuffs are moving in different directions, although with minimal growth or decrease.
The market index for wholesale food prices in Bulgaria rose by 0.88% to 2.281 points in the past week. Last week, the index stood at 2.261 points. The base level of 1 point was set in 2005.
The price of grapefruits decreased the most, by 5.3% to BGN 2.48 per kilogram and the price of apples went down by 2.9% to BGN 1.58 per kilogram. The price of bananas went down by 1.7% to BGN 2.71 per kilogram, and lemons went down in price by 1% to BGn 2.28 leva per kilogram. Tangerines depreciated by 0.6% to BGN 2.57 per kilogram. Only oranges increase in price by 4.8% to BGN 2.10 per kilogram.
When it comes to vegetables, the price of lettuce went down by 4.3% to BGN 1.12 per piece, ripe onions - by 3.7% to BGN 1.20 per kilogram, tomatoes - by 3.2% to BGN 2.88 per kilogram, and cabbage - by 2.3% to BGN 1.36 per kilogram. Cucumbers are appreciated by 4.9% to BGN 3.37 leva per kilogram. Carrots went up by 2.5% to BGN 1.25 per kilogram, and potatoes were up by 0.9% to BGN 1.32 per kilogram. The price of ripe garlic remained unchanged at BGN 6.17 per kilogram.
White brined cheese from cow's milk depreciated by 0.3% to BGN 11.40/kg, while yellow kashkaval cheese of the Vitosha type appreciated by 1.1% to BGN 18.05/kg. The price of yogurt (with a fat content of 3% and over) went up by 1.1% to BGN 1.34 for 400 grammes and so did that of fresh milk (with a fat content of 3%), by 0.2% to BGN 2.36 per litre. Butter from cow's milk depreciated by 0.2% to BGN 3.10 per 125 grammes.
The wholesale price of poultry rose by 0.8% to BGN 6.57/kg, while that of eggs (size M) dropped by 1.3% to BGN 0.31.
Rice depreciated by 1.6% to BGN 3.29/kg. Ripe beans went up in price by 1.1% to BGN 4.44/kg. Lentils appreciated by 0.5% to BGN 4.45/kg. The price of sunflower oil decreased by 1.1% to BGN 3.25 per litre, while that of flour (type 500) increased by 0.5% to BGN 1.47/kg. Sugar depreciated by 3.6% to BGN 1.83/kg.
