Natural gas stocks in gas storage facilities in the European Union countries have decreased to 49.02% of their capacity, shows data from Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) from on February 9.
A year ago, on February 9, 2024, gas storage facilities in the EU were filled to 67.11% of their capacity.
The underground gas storage facility in Bulgaria was filled to 49.98% of its capacity on February 9, 2025, as of 6 am, the association's data also indicated. A year earlier it was filled to 63.06%.
Among the EU countries, the most full were the gas storage facilities in Portugal (100.08% compared to 105.16% a year earlier), Sweden (88.05% compared to 76.66% a year earlier) and Spain (69.48% compared to 80.68% a year earlier).
The least full in the EU as of February 9, were the gas storage facilities in France (30.29% compared to 54.15% a year earlier), Croatia (30.65% compared to 47.9% a year earlier) and the Netherlands (33.7%compared to 61.19% a year earlier).
Gas storage facilities in Europe's largest economy, Germany, were filled to 49.22% of their capacity on the morning of February 9, down from 72.59% a year earlier, according to GIE.
