site.btaRailway Lines Reach 200,947 km in EU, 4,027 km in Bulgaria in 2023
In 2023, the EU railway network had 200,947 km of railway lines, show data released by Eurostat on Thursday. Bulgaria had 4,029 km of railway lines in that year.
The longest railway lines were registered in Germany (38,691 km). On the other end was Estonia with 1,171 km of lines.
The highest railway network density was registered in Czechia, with 123.2 metres of railway lines per square km, and the lowest density was observed in Greece, 14.0 metres per square km. In Bulgaria, the density was 36,6 metres per sq km in 2023.
