site.btaThick Fog Diverts Five Flights to Sofia Airport

Five Sofia Airport flights have been diverted amid thick fog, the airport concessionaire SOF Connect told BTA Tuesday. The decision to land at a different airport was made by the flight crew. 

A Wizz Air flight from Stuttgart chose to land in Skopje, and flights of the same carrier from Barcelona, Nice and Paris-Beauvais landed at Burgas Airport. A Ryanair flight from Munich also chose to land in Burgas.

Sofia Airport said that it has provided conditions for aircraft to land in winter conditions and fog but crews can make a decision to land at a different airport.
