site.btaAnnual Inflation in EU, Eurozone and Bulgaria Decreases in September

The rate of increase in consumer prices in the European Union went down in September to 2.1% on an annual basis compared to 2.4% reported for August. In the same period, in the Eurozone, annual inflation slowed to 1.7% compared to 2.2% in the previous month (August).

In Bulgaria, inflation in September on an annual basis was 1.5%  compared to the reported 2.4% in the previous month, shows the latest Eurostat data of the European statistical agency , calculated against the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HIPC) and published Thursday on the agency's website.

The lowest annual rates were recorded in Ireland (0.0), Lithuania (0.4%), Slovenia and Italy (both 0.7%).

The highest annual rates were reported in Romania (4.8%), Belgium (4.3%) and Poland (4.2%t). Compared to August 2024, annual inflation decreased in twenty EU member states, remained stable in two and increased in five.

In September 2024, the most significant contributor to the annual rate of inflation in the eurozone was the services industry (growth of 1.76 percentage points), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (all with growth of 0.47 percentage points), non-energy industrial goods (growth of 0.12 percentage points).
