At a meeting of representatives of the member states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD),  Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nikolay Pavlov state that consumers are at the centre of the digital and environmnetal transition. "Our aim is to ensure that they enjoy the same rights online and offline and are equally confident in using new digital channels", he noted, quoted by the Economy Ministry.

The theme of the event, which took place at the OECD headquarters in Paris, was "Consumers at the centre of the digital and green transitions".

Pavlov presented the position of Bulgaria in two of the panels of the meeting, in which the necessary measures to protect and empower users in the digital and ecological transition were discussed. He said that the rapid changes in today's increasingly digitized markets provide numerous benefits, but also contain risks, challenges and new forms of consumer vulnerability, and addressing these global challenges requires a global response from all economic operators and from consumer protection authorities.

Ministers and representatives of OECD member states, the EU and interested participating non-member countries have adopted a Declaration on consumer protection and empowerment in the digital and green transition.

"Bulgaria welcomes the adoption of the Declaration and shares the need to protect consumers in the digital and green transition, to deal with new risks for the safety of consumer products in the global market, as well as cross-border cooperation to improve the well-being of consumers," said Pavlov and pointed put that Bulgaria will join the Declaration.
