In July, the registered unemployment rate in the country was 5.4%, the National Employment Agency (NEA) reported on Friday. At the end of July, a total of 152,844 people were registered as unemployed at job centres.

The number of unemployed people who found a job in July was 14,542. There were also 339 pensioners, learners and employees who started work with the support of job centres.

As a result of the work of Roma, youth and labour mediators, more than 5,150 people previously inactive on the labour market were activated during the month, which is 18% more than in the previous month.

The number of job vacancies on the primary market increased to 8805 in July. In the real economy, the largest number of vacancies were in manufacturing (24%), education (18.8%), public administration (11.5%), trade (10.6%), administrative and support activities (7.8%) and hospitality (5.2%).

Members of at-risk groups who found employment last month through subsidized jobs totalled 4,669. Of them, 3,817 started work under employment programmes and measures financed by the state budget, and 852 started work under projects of the Operational Programme "Human Resources Development" 2021-2027, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus. More than 12,500 training vouchers were issued in July both for employed and unemployed.

Professions most in demand by businesses in July were teachers, personal care workers, mining and manufacturing workers, construction and transportation workers, salespersons, machine operators of stationary machinery and equipment, refuse collectors, motor vehicle and mobile equipment drivers, janitors and helpers.

The registered unemployment rate in Bulgaria in June was 5.3%, which was 0.1 percentage points lower than the previous month.

At the end of June, there were 150,990 registered unemployed at the labour offices, down 3,281 from the previous month.
