Cars from Bulgaria have an average annual mileage of 20,999 km, which is the 13th-highest figure among 27 European countries plus the United States, whose vehicles are checked on CarVertical, a vehicle history check service based in Tallinn. The report was published on the company's website earlier in July and covered by Bulgarian media.

Vehicles from the Netherlands have the highest average annual mileage – 29,851 km, followed by cars from Spain (29,017 km), Denmark (27,346 km), Belgium (24,308 km), and France (23,775 km), the report says.

Curiously, the mileage reported for Bulgaria is higher than that for cars imported from the United States (16,941 km).  In fact, the US is at the bottom of the ranking. This does not mean that Americans drive less than people in other countries, but because most vehicles imported from the US arrive in Europe heavily damaged. Otherwise, car dealers would not find it profitable to resell them, CarVertical explains.

The number of kilometres cars travel per year is one of the most important factors to consider when buying a car, and knowing how far people in your country drive per year can help you keep an eye out for potential odometer rollbacks, the company says.
